Poster Design
“We asked Ankerson Communications to create a design that visually recalled 19th century print advertising. The outcome was perfect. People across the university commented again and again that the posters were the best they had ever seen, in part because the design was such a marked departure from the typical posters promoting academic lectures.” -- Travis Foster, series organizer
Academics with the University of Wisconsin Department of English and American Literature hosted a year-long speaker series featuring prominent, national literature scholars discussing their work in American Studies.
The speaker series planning committee hired Ankerson Communications to design the identity and promotional posters for the events throughout the year.
Inspired by woodtype posters of the 19th century that were often formatted vertically using a mixture of type styles, sizes, and widths, we developed this series of posters that were printed in-house on hand-cut, fine, quality paper.
