Web Design; Development; Internet Strategy
In the fall of 2006, Wisconsin voters decided whether the state's constitution should be amended to ban civil unions and marriage for gay and lesbian couples. Unfortunately, the ballot measure passed, but not without an incredibly strong effort from Fair Wisconsin, the statewide campaign against the amendment.
For over a year, Ingrid Ankerson worked as the campaign's Internet Director where she branded the campaign’s on and offline identity and executed the design, development, and promotion of an aggressive Internet strategy. Her work included concepting and writing innovative and popular email campaigns, developing website features that made the issue tangible to people across the state, and leading a team of writers on the campaign's heavily trafficked blog.
Ingrid's Internet strategy helped put the issue on the forefront of the state’s political landscape, grew the campaign's email list from 4,000 to 40,000 supporters in just one year, and earned her the“Eleanor Roosevelt Statewide Impact Award” from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
